Just Cuz You Call it
Ice, Don't Mean it Ain't a Chain. In the world and culture
of mainstream rap, materialism has supplanted the substance of
the music. The widespread braggadocio flavor of the genre that
is defecating on its founders has infected everything from i-pods
to the airwaves. Let's not forget the true heros of hip hop so
quickly. And let's not put these chains on with out anyone else's
help, making ourselves slaves to a fashion. Harriet Tubman is
hip-hop. Frederick Douglas is hip hop. John Brown is hip-hop.
The Bling dynasties had a nice run, now watch the underground,
who refuses to bend to trends, who hold true to hip hop's roots
and the true love of music.
